On August 25, 2010 {WE} DONATED our first 10 handbags filled with 16 daily hygiene products. 

We are celebrating 10 years of creating and donating a Purse with Purpose. That's 10 years of offering justice and delivering practical kindness through 718 handbags crafted by artisans in our global communities and filled with 9,334 practical items donated to women experiencing homelessness or domestic violence in SW Colorado. With celebration, we create 140 handbags annually donated to four local nonprofit recipients. 

We are hosting our celebratory BIRTHDAY CAMPAIGN with the goal to fully fund our Monthly Handbag Program. You’re invited to partner with Power to Act and become a MONTHLY PURSE SPONSOR, which will enable us to continue to encourage women locally and empower women globally through a Purse with Purpose. We want to confidently continue to create a Purse with Purpose, a sensible, needs-based handbag that meets the basic physical needs of vulnerable women both locally and globally. It is our belief that when basic needs are met joy arises, hope is delivered, and dignity is restored.

With each $38 raised one deserving woman facing homelessness or domestic violence will receive a handbag crafted by artisans in our global communities and filled with the 10-17 practical items.   

This is not a static sponsorship, meaning you will join a life-giving community intended to walk out justice and kindness. Our main desire is to connect you as a SPONSOR to the handbag you create. You will have the opportunity to write an encouraging note to the woman who receives your handbag. For you see, personal connection is life-giving and fosters joy, hope, and dignity. 

​For a little history, we donated our first 10 handbags filled with 16 daily hygiene products on August 25, 2010 to the Durango Community Shelter and the Southwest Safehouse. We have been donating a Purse with Purpose ever since! We started faithfully donating 10 handbags bi-monthly, and since establishing our nonprofit in December 2016 we now donate an average of 10 handbags monthly to four different nonprofit recipients in SW Colorado.
